Ian Harris joins UCSF Gold-Headed Cane Society, Class of 2026

Dr. Ian Harris has been inducted into the UCSF Gold-Headed Cane Society as an honored faculty member in the Class of 2026.

Established in 1939, the Gold-Headed Cane Society recognizes individuals who exemplify the qualities of a true physician - clinical excellence, integrity, and an enduring commitment to patients and trainees alike.  The last cardiology faculty to receive this distinction were Drs. Kanu Chatterjee and Elliot Rapaport, nearly 30 years ago. Dr. Harris’s induction into this distinguished cohort reflects the profound and lasting contributions he has made to this institution as a clinician, educator, and colleague.

Below is a photograph from the UCSF Gold-Headed Cane Society Convocation Ceremony, held in May 2026. Dr. Harris is pictured with Rebecca Jackson, another faculty inductee, and medical student inductees Pablo Suarez Proano and Emily Taketa.
