Echocardiography Elective
The UCSF Echocardiography laboratory offers a one-month elective where participants will gain hands-on experience with echocardiography. Goals can be tailored to the trainee but include (i) acquiring and interpreting basic echocardiogram views; (ii) basic understanding of ultrasound physics and echocardiogram-derived clinical measurements; (iii) triage of appropriate and inappropriate use of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography; and (iv) focused echocardiography to answer specific clinical questions in emergent and non-emergent settings.

We regret that we are not able to offer this echo elective to individuals outside of the UCSF system at this time.
Eligibility: UCSF non-cardiologists (e.g. trainees or faculty from medicine, anesthesia, critical care, or other fields), as well as cardiologist or non-cardiologist trainees visiting UCSF, are eligible to apply. If you have questions about your eligibility, email [email protected].
Deadline: Requests must be submitted at least 2 months before the desired start of the elective.
