Faculty Mentoring, Development, Advancement, and Promotion
Our Division is committed to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for faculty through a robust mentorship program. We offer several key programs:
Mentoring Program
-
All early career faculty and faculty new to UCSF are paired with an experienced faculty colleague. A departmental facilitator assists with pairings. Mentees also participate in Mentor Panels, an opportunity to obtain multiple perspectives on career trajectory, goals and challenges.
Faculty Development Series
- Enhance your skills and network with colleagues through optional events covering leadership, communication, team building, and career advancement.
Onboarding and Resources
- We provide streamlined onboarding with immediate access to online resources and support, including a personalized welcome and access to a comprehensive wiki with departmental information. Additional campus-wide resources are available through the Campus Council on Faculty Life.
Advancement & Promotion Consultation
- An optional service offers guidance and directs you to relevant resources for career progression.
Inpatient Service ‘Buddy’ program
-
Throughout their first 6 months on faculty, new faculty have an identified ‘buddy’ when on inpatient service. That experienced faculty member is on service at the same time, and is available for both logistic and more clinically oriented questions.
