About
Cardiovascular disease remains the nation’s leading cause of death, and UCSF is a pioneer in developing better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat heart disease. Our mission is to provide the best possible care to all patients with cardiovascular disease, make important discoveries that benefit patients and offer the best training for cardiology and subspecialty fellows.
We use the most advanced tools to diagnose cardiovascular disease, and our physicians include world-renowned experts in every area of cardiology. We not only treat heart disease – ranging from routine diseases to the most complex and rare – we work to prevent heart disease. We have a wide range of clinical services and expertise, and deliver quality care with compassion and a patient-centered focus.
Our experts are available to provide consultation for all aspects of cardiovascular care and prevention. We strive to provide rapid, seamless referrals, and our electronic medical record allows for rapid communication of findings and follow-up.
We also conduct a wide range of research at all campuses, discovering more about everything from causes of heart disease to which new drugs and devices are most likely to benefit patients.
We have one of the most prestigious cardiology training programs in the country, and routinely receive more than 400 applications for half a dozen fellowship positions each year. Our cardiology fellows are mentored by our world-class faculty, and have the unparalleled opportunity to conduct research and care for diverse populations of patients at all campus sites.
