Cardiology Fellowship Award Winners and Graduates
Congratulations to our 2026 Fellowship Award Winners!
The awards below are voted on and awarded by UCSF Cardiology Fellows.

Faculty Teaching Award
Jaya Mallidi, MD
In her work with fellows, residents, and medical students, Jaya brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and generosity of spirit that creates a welcoming and engaging learning environment. She is a dedicated bedside teacher who always makes time for learners, whether providing hands-on teaching, covering clinical duties so fellows can attend educational sessions, or offering thoughtful guidance at any hour of the day or night. Jaya has a remarkable ability to empower fellows to take ownership of patient care while holding them to the highest standards of excellence. She models exceptional compassion and dedication to the patients we serve at Zuckerberg San Francisco General and demonstrates every day what it means to be both an outstanding physician and mentor.

Advanced Fellow Teaching Award
Dany Debs, MD
In his first year at UCSF as an Advanced Imaging Fellow, Dany has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to fellow education and a gift for making multimodality imaging approachable and engaging. Whether teaching cardiac MRI, coronary CT, or echocardiography, he approaches every learning opportunity with patience, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm. Dany creates an environment where no question feels like a bad question. Fellows came to him feeling intimidated by unfamiliar imaging modalities and left feeling more confident, curious, and excited to learn.

Staff Member of the Year Award
Carson Homuth, RDCS, FASE
For the past five years, Carson has played an essential role in the training and development of our first-year fellows. As one of our cardiac sonographers, he has introduced countless learners to echocardiography, bringing patience and exceptional skill to every teaching interaction. From the very first day of echo rotation, he creates an environment where learners feel supported and comfortable asking questions as they develop new skills. What makes Carson such a remarkable educator is not only his technical expertise, but his ability to teach complex hands-on skills with clarity and thoughtfulness. He has a gift for helping fellows find their own way to the correct image, building both competence and confidence along the way. Even on the busiest days, he remains calm and fully invested in learner growth.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026!
