Cardiac Camp 2024: Empowering Future Cardiologists

Cardiac Camp at UCSF is an entirely free, hands-on learning experience for 9th and 10th graders who are Underrepresented Minorities in Medicine. Throughout the weeklong camp, students explored cardiovascular medicine by identifying heart sounds, learning about heart-healthy nutrition, practicing suturing and knot-tying skills, and even examining a real heart. Cardiology Grand Rounds - Alexis Beatty, MD, MAS

Alexis Beatty, MD, MAS is a cardiologist and health services researcher who studies innovative delivery models for cardiovascular disease care to improve outcomes and reduce disparities. She received a career development award from the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop and test a mobile application to improve participation in cardiac rehabilitation, called VA FitHeart. She worked for Apple 2018-2019 and participated in the development of their heart features and Research app.

Cardiology Grand Rounds - Aaron Aguirre, MD, PhD

Aaron Aguirre is an attending cardiologist and critical care physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his doctoral degree in electrical and biomedical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
