Ian Harris, MD
Professor
Cardiology
Dr. Ian Harris is a cardiologist specializing in Adult Congenital Cardiology, the management of heart disease in pregnancy, and genetic cardiovascular diseases. He attends in the Adult Congenital Cardiology Clinic and is the Cardiology consultant to the Cardiovascular Genetics/Marfan Syndrome, lysosomal storage diseases, and Ras/MAPK pathway clinics. Dr. Harris' research focuses generally on the molecular mechanisms underlying cardiac development and growth and specifically on the transcriptional control of genes during cardiac development. Dr. Harris earned his degree from UCSF School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He went on to complete a research fellowship in cardiology/cell signaling in the laboratory of Dr. Anthony Muslin and then a chief residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University. Dr. Harris returned to UCSF Medical Center to complete his cardiology and adult congenital cardiology fellowships, as well as a research fellowship in developmental biology in the lab of Dr. Brian Black. Dr. Harris joined the University of California, San Francisco cardiology team in 2007.
