Following an international search, Liviu Klein, MD, was selected to become Chief of Advanced Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension Section and Medical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Comprehensive Care Center, effective September 1st, 2021. Dr. Klein has extensive experience caring for patients with heart failure and arrhythmias, including care before and after surgery for those receiving heart transplants.

He has developed novel clinical programs, including the CardioMEMS and implanted monitoring programs.

We are excited to have his leadership in such an important program.

"I am grateful for the tremendous support from the division and hospital leadership and my colleagues. We live in an exciting time where innovations in diagnosis and treatment are rapidly evolving and can markedly change patients’ outcomes. I look forward to continuing building and growing the inclusive and comprehensive UCSF Advanced Heart Failure program to serve Californians and beyond."
