Dr. Michelle Albert has been elected 2022 President of the American Heart Association
Michelle Albert, MD, has been selected as the American Heart Association’s President-elect, effective July 1, 2021. In July 2022, she will take the reins as President of the American Heart Association (AHA).
Dr. Albert is a trailblazing clinician-scientist who is transforming population research and inspiring the next generation of cardiologists and scientists. She is the director of the CeNter for the StUdy of AdveRsiTy and CardiovascUlaR DiseasE (NURTURE Center), which studies the effects of heart disease, and COVID-19, on diverse and vulnerable populations. In July 2020, she was appointed associate dean for admissions at the UCSF School of Medicine.
Dr. Albert is currently president of the Association of Black Cardiologists and was recently appointed the 60th president of the Association of University Cardiologists.
In 2018, Dr. Albert received the AHA Merit Award, and in 2020, she received the AHA’s 2020 Population Research Prize.
