Dr. Greg Marcus discusses COVID-19 research study expansion with ABC7 news
Dr. Greg Marcus was interviewed by ABC7 News about the expansion of the COVID-19 Citizen Science research study, which has 22,000+ participants to date.
The study includes participants from all over the world who participate in daily surveys and health monitoring using their smartphones.
Dr. Marcus says the COVID-19 Citizen Science study has been so successful they're now adding a second piece of technology, a device called the Zio patch. When placed on the chest, the patch detects and records heart rhythms with minimum inconvenience to the patient.
Dr. Marcus believes the smartphone tracking along with the data retrieved from the Zio patch, could help researchers learn about the virus's short and long term effects on the heart.
