Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center Celebrates its 2nd-Year Anniversary

The UCSF Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center has had a tremendous second year! The program's success can be attributed to our incredible leadership, staff and most importantly, our extraordinary patients. The program has had many achievements during this challenging pandemic year.  This year's milestones include:

  • The program obtained certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
  • Worldwide, nearly 50% of the Cardiac Rehab programs closed during the pandemic. Our center stayed open offering center-based classes and created a Home-Based Cardiac Rehab (HBCR) program to meet patient demand and individuals’ needs. All participants have the opportunity to schedule virtual sessions with the registered dietitian, pharmacist, and psychiatrist.
HBCR includes once weekly virtual exercise sessions with our exercise physiologist and a structured self-directed home routine. The HBCR program uses an app designed for cardiac rehab to record exercise routines, view education modules, and log activity and vital signs.
  • We welcomed new team members Lauren Hurst, Exercise Physiologist, and Laura Mani, Registered Nurse
  • And finally, the team produced three new videos that introduce UCSF Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and detail the proven benefits of cardiac rehabilitation. The videos include testimonials from actual UCSF patients and were shot in the Center located at 500 Parnassus Ave., Floor B1, Suite MU09 San Francisco, CA 94143.
